Originally published in 1896 by the Irish Socialist Republican Party, edited and with an introduction by James Connolly. No copies of the original edition are known to have survived. The Socialist Party of Ireland republished it in April 1906, with some changes to Connolly’s introduction. The changes would appear to be cosmetic – the Irish Socialist Republican Party is substituted for the Socialist Party of Ireland, for example – but without the original it is hard to know.
The copy of the pamphlet below is undated but appears to be the 1906 edition. It contains an ad for Thomas Brady’s The Historical Basis of Socialism in Ireland, which was first published in 1905.
